Welcome to my crafting world. I love to share my ideas and ways I've found of doing things. Most of my videos are about using the GoPress and Foil, but lots of the techniques can also be used with other foiling hot plates. I'll also be including videos on other aspects of paper crafting. There are some GoPress and Foil groups on Facebook with members (including me) eager to share their ideas and help other GoPress users.
Foiled Forest using Spellbinders Seasons Greetings Evergreens Press Plate
In this video I'm using a "Press Plate" designed for the Spellbinders Betterpress with my hot foiling platform (My GoPress & Foil). Press Plates can be used in exactly the same way as hot foiling plates - they just have a different coating on the surface to make them work well with ink in the Betterpress letter pressing system.
I'm also using die cuts for the trees and deer in the foreground - I've used "John Next Door" Deer Scenes 2022 do think about what dies you already have to die cut things to put in the foreground e.g. houses, rabbits, squirrels, trees etc.
The background paper for the card is from a Hunkydory paper pad.

Die Cut Frame with Foiled Corners
Просмотров 36511 месяцев назад
This video is more about a way to die cut a pretty shaped frame than about the foiling, but this is a great way to add foiling to the corners of a frame. Hopefully you'll find ways of using whichever foiling plates and dies you have with the ideas in this video
Foiled Flowers using a hot foiling platform - GoPress & Foil, Glimmer or similar
Просмотров 460Год назад
In this video I'm showing you some ideas for creating foiled flowers using a hot foiling platform - GoPress & Foil, Spellbinders Glimmer, Gemini Foilpress or similar. This is a hot foil stamping process NOT Toner Foiling. The dies I'm using and showing may not still be available as manufacturers tend to produce seasonal collections. I am listing the dies used, but I cannot advise on suppliers w...
Foiling Ribbon
Просмотров 228Год назад
You can use your hot foiling platform - GoPress & Foil, Spellbinders Glimmer or Gemini Foilpress to foil onto ribbon using your hot foiling plates. Here I share my tips for making sure the foiling plate, foil and ribbon stay in the correct places while you working with them. The tape I use is Frog Tape for Delicate Surfaces - it is good quality decorators masking tape www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B...
Foiled Shaped Aperture cards - using Glimmer, GoPress & Foil or Gemini Foilpress
Просмотров 535Год назад
These cards are made with a technique sometimes used by stampers to have an image protruding into an aperture without cutting out the whole stamped image and sticking it back on. I've combined my foiling with some stamping (with ink) as well, but you could also used patterned papers or an element from a topper pad. I've had many of my hot foil stamps for several years - so I can't tell you wher...
Border Hot Foil Stamps - what to do when your card/paper is wider than your foiling platform.
Просмотров 7032 года назад
This video is very much about planning your foiling so that you can make cards that are wider than the hot plate. You either need a wide (8" or 9") die cutting machine so that your card/paper can stick out at the sides of the foiling platform, or you need to cut your card/paper into smaller pieces, foil and then hide the joins on your card. At the start of this video I make a mistake with measu...
My Top Tips for Using Hot Foiling Platforms
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.2 года назад
Here are my top tips for making the most of your foiling platform It doesn't matter whether you have a Spellbinders Glimmer, Gemini Foilpress or a GoPress & Foil - these tips will help you achieve the best possible foiling results when using hot foil stamps/foiling plates.
Foiled Embellishments using Mirrored Die Sets
Просмотров 6012 года назад
This is a technique foiling with normal cutting dies - but the dies either have to be symmetrical or you need a pair of dies that mirror each other. In this video I'm using a new die set from the John Next Door brand "Holly Sprigs" JND 309. I use 2 thin metal shims - 1 to cover the hot plate and one to protect the lid or top plate from being scratch by the die.
Getting more from your hot foil plates - using them to create frames and accent foiling
Просмотров 7642 года назад
This video is all about ideas and inspiration - so it doesn't matter which of the hot foiling platforms you have (GoPress & Foil, Gemini FoilPress or Spellbinders Glimmer) you can use these ideas. I've use 2 foil stamps in my examples, but there are lots of foil stamps that you can use in this way. Hopefully you will see new ways to use the foil stamps you already have and be able to imagine lo...
Using Border Foiling Plates to create a card background
Просмотров 6023 года назад
I'm using a GoPress & Foil in my video but you should be able to use the same technique in conjunction with the Gemini Foilpress or Spellbinder Glimmer hot foiling platforms.
Multi Coloured Foiled Foliage Wreath
Просмотров 8193 года назад
The foiling plate I'm using is from Spellbinders Glimmer Foliage Circle Border set. My wreath is made using just the main foiling plate in the set. I'm foiling onto a 14cm square piece of smooth white card. On the back of the card I've marked the centre of each side and numbered them 1 - 4. This technique should work with any brand of hot foiling platform that designed to be used with a die cut...

Hot Foiling Platforms - Top Tips for avoiding wasting foil and card
Просмотров 2 тыс.3 года назад
Here I'm sharing my top tips - things I do whenever I'm using my hot foiling platform - to make sure I don't waste card/paper, foil and time by having to take 2nd or even 3rd attempts at getting my foiling perfect. I use my hot foiling platform (GoPress & Foil) with nearly every card I make - so these are techniques I use all the time. In my demonstration I'm using a Spellbinders Glimmer plate ...
Foiling part of a foil plate - using GoPress & Foil or Glimmer hot foiling platform
Просмотров 3,1 тыс.3 года назад
If you are new to hot foiling (hot foil stamping) I recommend you watch my Beginners Guide videos and practice foiling before trying this technique. For this video I'm using some background hot foil plate/dies from both Spellbinders (Glimmer) and Crafters Companion (Gemini) background Foil Stamp die ranges. To foil just part of the plate I'm using shaped card shims to control where pressure is ...
Removing Over-Foiling
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.3 года назад
Here are some hints and tips for removing over-foiling. I have 3 tools I use - a Tombow Mono Eraser, a Faber Castell Eraser pencil (Faber-Castell 185800 Pencil) and Couture Creations Creative Detailer. I also find that low tack masking tape will remove some over foiling.

Thanks for this video. I don’t do foiling but I use watch you have shown to make ‘foiled frames with Miri and patterned card
Very nice. I don’t really do foiling but you have given me the idea to put Miri frames around little book pages tfs
Thanks so much for the tip on masking. I couldn't work out how to solve my over foiling mess!!
Is that an a4 big shot your using it with?
Yes - its a Big Shot Plus
@AnotherJoUK thank you for replying. Am considering one as already have the same foiling machine your using. Havent used much over the years so glad to have found your videos on here
Thank you so much for a thorough & easy to follow & understand tutonal on this technique, many other video's I've watched have made it complicated & hard to follow.
Glad it was helpful!
I am going to try this
Beautiful card. I too, have missed your videos.
Thanks so much!
Gorgeous card and nice to see you back on You Tube again. Have missed your foiling videos. Thanks Joanne and have a lovely day xx

I’m watching this 5yrs later and your flowers are beautiful
Thank you so much, have just been given one and you have helped me tremendously, have subscribed for more great information. 😊
I’ve just made a card following your video. I used foil rubs instead of my hot foiling machine. Thank you 😊
Using rub-ons is a great idea
Beautiful card with lots of good tips. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Your cards are always an inspiration. This card is brilliant!!!!❤
Thank you so much!
Beautiful!! Inspired me to try this!!
Go for it!
Sometimes that over foiling will come up with sticky tape - just dab, dab the area with the sticky tape - sometimes one dab is all you need and then sometimes it takes several dabs - just depends on how big your area is - practice on a scrap and see which sticky tape works best
Thanks for the tip :)
Where did you get the layout sheet from, and the name of the product please.
The layout sheets are a Crafts Too product. They sell through The Art of Craft in the UK.
Absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing. 🤗💜
I love your foiling techniques and learn a lot.
Glad you like them!
Is it possible to use the stamped image through a laminator when stamping with the ink pad as I have 2 cutting machines a glimmer hot foil system and a laminator so dont really want to buy another machine.
No ... A laminator doesn't have enough heat and pressure to foil the Kaleido ink.
Great tutorial!
Lovely job! It is so peaceful to watch your work.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for sharing this video. The flowers are absolutely gorgeous. 🌺💜
Thanks for visiting
Thank you for this video. I'm gonna give it a try with some of my Spellbinders flowers. Just wondering if the "Rubbish" can be foiled with a solid metal plate?
Glad you've found this video helpful. I've never had much success with transferring "waste" foil onto card, but it might be worth a try.
Great video and learned a lot from it. Will definatly give some of your ideas a good
Glad it was helpful!
This is so great. Love watching your videos. Thank you so so much, I've learnt so much by watching your posts over the years. Can't wait to see and try out more of your tutorials. 😊
You are so welcome!
Hi Joanne your demonstration was very good you make it look so easy, I have just bought the Kaleido Machine I have had it a week but not having much luck with it, I don’t know if it’s the card stock I am using but it leaving a lot of foil over the area it doesn’t come through clean, what card stock and foil do you recommend, I am currently using the Kaleido foil xx
I'm glad you've found my demonstration helpful. I mostly use Kaleido brand foil but I've also used other toner foil from ebay successfully. I've tried a few types of card - with "supersmooth" card there is a tendency for extra flecks of foil to transfer. The foil will also transfer to coated card (pearl or shiny) so that should be avoided. Card designed for "mixed media" is better and I've also had good results from smooth water colour card. I would suggest testing a small piece of any card you are thinking of using with a small piece of foil to see if it leaves any foil where it shouldn't. Also after stamping with the Kaleido ink leave it to dry for at least 30 minutes before foiling - you can leave it much longer as well. I often stamped a few extra of a sentiment and then foil them in the colour I want months later.
Does it scorch the card?
No - it doesn't scorch the card.
Grat ideas thankyou
Glad you like them!
Fantastic!!! Thanks for sharing.
Oh my Joanne! They’ve come out really well. I’m amazed how they’ve worked. I’m definitely going to have a go doing that. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Thankyou for sharing!
This is the best foiled card I have seen, I love it and can't wait to try it for myself. I have only just come across your work, foiling has always seemed a daunting process but you make it seem so straightforward. Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to try it again. Firstly, though, I'm off to get me that beautiful Spellbinders set. Best wishes, Liz in East Anglia
Thank you so much!
What great techniques, thank you so much for sharing! Can’t wait to try them.
Thank you, Joanne!
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed this video.
Thank you for showing this. I’m kind of confused, why not close the embossing folder then run it through the machine. It would embossed the foil right onto the paper. You seem to be having trouble with areas of the foil not sticking, wouldn’t this solve the problem? I have some old folders that I don’t mind ruining to try this technique with. I hope you will try running it through hot with the folder closed and see if that works. I’m not talking about using the new, 3-D folders, but the old flatter folders.
The aim of this method is to produce a similar look to that you would get using a metal foiling plate - with the design flat and pressed slightly into the card. Since making this video I've replaced my die cutting machine as the pressure wasn't even across the width of the roller.
Hi Thank you for sharing all your tips. What is the name of that giant roll of foil? Where would you find it? What is it called? I would like to look here and see if it is available anywhere. :)
My large roll of gold foil was purchased from Create and Craft several years ago. It is no longer available from them. Large rolls of foil are sometimes available on ebay - search for "hot stamping foil". They are commercial foils and some work better with foiling platforms than others - you have to take a chance.
@@AnotherJoUK Thank you so much. I will proceed with caution. <3
Lovely. What is that large roll of silver foil? What is it called please? Maybe I can find something similar here if I knew what it was for? Thanks :)
you need to look for "hot stamping foil"
how long do you heat the embossing folder
I heated the embossing folder for 5 minutes
Where did you find the roll of silver foil and what brand is it? Thank you
from Ebay 4 years ago.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
So many good ideas, thank you ! I actually run to the kitchen to grap a whiteboard (fridge) magnet, works perfect 👍🏻
Great video, learned a lot, thank you!
Will this work with the Anna Griffin Empress?
No - the mouth of the die cutting machine is not deep enough for the GoPress & Foil to fit into it. You need a die cutting machine that can take steel rule dies such as the Big Shot/Big Shot Plus, Spellbinders Platinum or Couture Creations GoPower & Emboss
@@AnotherJoUK Thank you. I am glad I asked, because it looked like I couldn't. I wish I would have purchased the Big shot plus instead. Someone that is doing crafts said to get the Empress. I will have to look into the Couture Creations GoPower & Emboss or purchase the big Shot Plus.
You are an excellent tutor and thank you for sharing. I have never foiled before and am dragging my feet at getting started just because I am afraid of srewing up. I am 83 years old.
The only foil you really waste is the foil that you never use - If you foiling isn't perfect then you have invested some foil in learning, not wasted it. Do have a look at my Beginners Guides play list and have a go.
I really enjoyed watching your techniques, always so well explained, thank you so much.
You are so welcome!
